One of the biggest family attractions in Irvine, California is Boomers! Park, an indoor and outdoor amusement center featuring carousels, kiddie swings, restaurants, musical shows and video arcades, miniature golf, kiddie rides, bumper boats, batting cages, go-karts, kiddie roller coasters, and laser tag. Owned by Palace Entertainment, the Boomers! Parks chain offers fun for the whole family. Irvine also hosts Orange County's only waterpark: You can plummet down fast chutes of water and fling your body headlong into giant pools at Wild Rivers. This place is designed for letting your kids go crazy.
For a more nature-based day, the Turtle Rock Nature Center also offers family fun, as you may see some wild animals as you stroll along the paths of this little park. Inside the Nature Center are snakes, raccoons, and turtles on display at eye level for youngsters. Exhibits are informative, and illustrate how we can protect the environment. Another park of interest is William R. Mason Regional Park, a day use park near the UCI campus. A large duck-filled lake, barbecue fire rings and playground equipment make it a good place for a picnic stop. There are bicycle trails, fitness parcourse trails where you can jog and stop and exercise, a Frisbee golf course, horseshoe pits and volleyball courts. Hobbyists use the lake to sail their model sailboats. There is also a nature trail and interpretive programs.
With all of this and so much more to offer in entertainment, including a wide range of historic buidlings, museums, and nearby sports to see and play, Irvine is certainly a wonderful place to live.
